Transfer of hospitalised patients

Advice from the Avenues Vet Centre

Please be aware that the Out of hours service operates for the hours outside of our practice opening times.

If your animal is already hospitalised with the practice and requires ongoing care overnight it is your responsibility to transfer your pet from the practice to Glasgow University Veterinary School. Your pet will also need to be transferred back to our practice in the morning for further treatment if necessary.

If transportation is difficult, an emergency ambulance transfer can be arranged with PAWSS pet services on:

Telephone: 0141 776 3464
Mobile: 07828 018777

If financial constraints or other difficulties preclude a transfer to our out of hours service, then your pet can be hospitalised at The Avenues Veterinary Centre in Rutherglen.

This means we commit to a veterinary surgeon checking your pet at 8pm and again before midnight. They will then be on their own until a veterinary nurse is back in the practice at 8am the following morning. This can only be implemented if advised by a veterinary surgeon.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the Avenues Vet Centre.
